Get involved - Tips for Neighbourhood Centres and Houses

National Child Protection Week 1-7 September 2019

Get Involved > Ideas for Neighbourhood Centres and Houses

National Child Protection Week is a great opportunity for community centres and neighbourhood houses to get involved with creating child-friendly communities.

You help to create the safe harbours that families need by providing access to important services, by providing opportunities to bring the community together, and by providing friendly welcoming environments.

In addition to the promotional suggestions on our Get Involved page, neighbourhood and community centres may like to

  • Download and display the poster Neighbourhood Centres Are Safe Harbours for Families, which was created in Queensland to celebrate the great work that you do.
  • Download our Children’s Activities for use with visitors and playgroups in the lead-up to National Child Protection Week.
  • Organise a display in a common area using our posters or some of the Children’s Activity artwork from above.
  • Organise an event e.g. morning tea, BBQ for families, information evening, or family fun day during the week (don’t forget to register your event on our website)

For general information about how to get involved with National Child Protection Week and to download the resources mentioned above, visit our Get Involved page at:
