Introducing … Untaught Education!

Are there things that you wish you were taught in school but weren’t? Or things that young people are telling you they want to know more about but don’t know who to ask?

NAPCAN’s Youth Speak Out – also known as NYSO and made up of 19 representatives from all across Australia – have identified that there are still big gaps in what young people are being taught about important life issues, particularly around relationships.

So during Youth Week in April, NYSO launched a new Instagram page called Untaught Education, using information workshopped with young people, experts and academics.

Basically, it’s a reliable, digestible and necessary source of all that untaught information to do with respect, healthy relationships, sexuality and a whole lot more.

The Untaught Education team has already been out and about asking young people what they think, including:

  • What is something you wish you had or would like to learn in school about relationships, intimate or otherwise?
  • Young people have loads of strengths, what do you think is one of them?
  • What do you think is an aspect of a respectful relationship?
  • How do you think we can improve the quality of respectful relationships education?

Find out more by following Untaught Education on Instagram and make sure you share with the young people in your lives.
