CAIRNS WORKSHOP FOR REMOTE WORKERS
Do you work with children in remote Queensland? Join us in Cairns for a FREE multi-day workshop about creating stronger, safer communities and organisations for children.
The Creating Stronger Communities and Safer Organisations workshop has been developed for remote frontline workers by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN). The workshop aims to increase the understanding and capability of remote frontline workers to recognise and respond appropriately to issues of child abuse and neglect, domestic and family violence and child safe/friendly practice. Participants will gain an understanding of how they can promote community inclusion, safety and wellbeing through group discussions, interactive activities, video resources and individual reflection.
The training content includes, but is not limited to:
- Exploring the strengths of communities to support families and prevent child abuse and neglect
- Indicators and signs of child abuse and neglect and domestic and family violence:
o How to detect and respond appropriately to indicators or disclosures of abuse
o Reporting obligations and how to report effectively
- Child safe and friendly practices:
o Strategies in putting children’s rights into practice
o Promoting inclusive practice for children and young people
- Resources and services available to support the prevention of abuse and help promote community inclusion, safety and wellbeing.

IPSWICH FORUM – PRIMARY PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT IN THE IPSWICH REGION
