We know there’s a lot changing – and it’s important you have clear, up-to-date info. Below are answers to some of the most common questions you may have.
If you still need help, don’t hesitate to contact our team at training@napcan.org.au or 02 8073 3300.
Research from the Australian Maltreatment Study reveals that over 43.8% of young people have been exposed to domestic violence, and more than 40% have experienced multiple forms of abuse. These traumatic experiences profoundly affect a young person’s sense of safety, wellbeing, and ability to engage in learning. It is therefore essential that Respectful Relationships Education (RRE) programs adopt a trauma-responsive approach that acknowledges and supports the unique needs of young survivors. By creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments, RRE can play a crucial role in promoting healing, resilience, and long-term positive outcomes for affected students.
The new package includes:
The transition course is a 2-hour online live session designed to bridge the gap between the old package and the updated 2025 version. A skilled Love Bites trainer will guide you through the key changes, including new activities and resources, with time at the end to answer your questions and provide support. Reminder: You’ll also need to complete the Tuned In Modules as part of transitioning to the updated program.
The Transition Training is designed specifically for facilitators who completed their Love Bites Senior training between 29 March 2022 and 31 August 2024, to help them bridge to the updated 2025 version.
If you completed training before 29 March 2022, you would have undertaken an earlier version of the program that differs significantly from the current approach. Since then, Love Bites Senior has undergone substantial redevelopment, including critical updates to content.
Because of these major changes, facilitators trained before March 29 2022 are required to complete the full two-day training package to ensure they are current, confident, and fully equipped to deliver the revised program effectively.
More information on the new two-day training is available HERE.
As part of the updated training package, all facilitators are required to complete Tuned In – Building Safer Facilitation Skills with Young People. This on-demand program consists of six self-paced online modules, each taking approximately 45 minutes to complete. The modules are designed to enhance your capacity to facilitate in a safe, youth-centred, and trauma-responsive manner. While it is recommended to complete them prior to the two-day training, they may be finalised afterward if needed. Please note that Love Bites certificates and resources will only be issued once all modules have been successfully completed.
Further information about the Tuned In Modules can be found HERE.
If the Transition Training is not completed by the deadline, you will be required to attend the new two-day Trauma Responsive Love Bites Senior training at your own cost in order to continue delivering the program Senior beyond this date.
Unfortunately not. The current program was created in 2022 and is now outdated. This version will be archived & removed from the profiles of all facilitators on 31 March 2026. The new package reflects the evolving landscape for young people and includes critical updates to trauma responsive practice and topics such as coercive control, affirmative consent and pornography.
No. The 2022 version of the training package will be archived and permanently removed from all facilitator profiles on 31 March 2026.
