Neighbourhood Centres are Safe Harbours for Families

Neighbourhood Centre Week, happening across Australia from 9 to 15 May 2022, is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the role of over 1,000 Neighbourhood and Community Houses and Centres.

This year’s theme is ‘Building resilience by bringing people together’.

In Queensland alone, there are 143 neighbourhood centres supporting more than 1.6 million people who attend a wide range of events and activities in local centres.

In support of the week, NAPCAN recognises the important role of neighbourhood and community centres in providing the community support that all families need.

See NAPCAN’s resource sheet (pictured below) for more information about the way that neighbourhood centres help to create safe and supported communities for children.
