By placing a bid in NAPCAN’s silent auction, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
The auction opens at 9:00am AEST on Monday 24 August 2026 and closes at 5:00pm AEST on Friday 11 September 2026.
Bids received after the auction closes will not be accepted.
The time recorded by NAPCAN’s online bid form will be used to determine when a bid was received.
You must be 18 years or older to place a bid.
If you are bidding on behalf of an organisation or another person, you must have authority to do so.
Please make sure the contact details you provide are correct, as we will use these to contact you about your bid.
The starting bid is $6,600 AUD, including GST.
All bids are made including GST and must be entered in whole Australian dollar amounts. Cents will not be accepted.
Each new bid must be at least $1 higher than the current highest bid.
For example, if the current highest bid is $7,000, the next valid bid must be $7,001 or more.
All bids must be submitted through the NAPCAN online auction form.
By submitting a bid, you are making an offer to purchase the artwork for the amount you have entered and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
If two bidders submit the same highest bid, the bid received first will take priority.
Bids cannot generally be withdrawn once submitted. If you believe you have made a genuine error when placing a bid, please contact NAPCAN as soon as possible.
You will receive confirmation after submitting your bid.
NAPCAN will also aim to notify you by email if another bidder places a higher bid, giving you the opportunity to bid again before the auction closes.
Outbid notifications are provided as a courtesy. Email delivery can sometimes be delayed or unsuccessful, so NAPCAN cannot guarantee that an outbid notification will always be received before the auction closes.
It remains the bidder’s responsibility to place any further bids before the auction closing time.
The highest valid bid received before the auction closes will be the winning bid.
NAPCAN will notify the successful bidder after the auction closes using the contact details provided with their bid.
The successful bidder must pay the full amount of their winning bid by 5:00pm AEST on Friday 18 September 2026.
If payment is not received by 5:00pm AEST on Friday 18 September 2026, the winning bid will be forfeited and NAPCAN may offer the artwork to the next highest bidder. If the artwork is offered to the next highest bidder, they will have three business days from the date they are notified to make payment in full.
All bids are in Australian dollars and include GST.
Payment instructions will be provided directly to the successful bidder.
The artwork will not be released or dispatched until the winning bid has been paid in full.
Delivery is available within Australia only and will be posted from Brisbane. Collection is not available.
Delivery is not included in the winning bid. The successful bidder is responsible for the cost of delivering the artwork to their nominated Australian address.
NAPCAN will confirm the delivery arrangements and associated costs with the successful bidder before the artwork is dispatched.
The artwork will not be dispatched until the winning bid and agreed delivery costs have been paid in full.
The successful bidder is purchasing the physical artwork only.
Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the artwork remain with the artist. Purchasing the artwork does not give the successful bidder the right to reproduce, copy or commercially use the artwork unless separately authorised by the copyright owner.
NAPCAN will take reasonable care to ensure the information and images provided about the artwork are accurate.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
NAPCAN will collect and use the information you provide to administer the auction. This may include:
Your personal information will be handled in accordance with NAPCAN’s Privacy Policy.
Entering the auction does not automatically subscribe you to NAPCAN marketing communications.
NAPCAN does not represent or guarantee that any part of the purchase price is tax deductible. If you require advice about your individual tax circumstances, you should seek independent tax advice.
The winning bid is a payment to purchase the artwork, not a donation.
NAPCAN may reject a bid where it reasonably believes the bid is invalid, fraudulent or has been submitted in error.
If a technical issue or other circumstance outside NAPCAN’s reasonable control significantly affects the auction, NAPCAN may extend, suspend or cancel the auction where reasonably necessary.
Any significant change to the auction will be communicated through the auction webpage.
