Love Bites Junior Refresher: Final deadline 30 June 2026

The final deadline to complete the 2-hour online Love Bites Junior Refresher is 30 June 2026.

This deadline is final and will not be extended.

Who this applies to

This information is for facilitators who have been advised they are eligible to complete the Love Bites Junior Refresher.

What you need to do

To remain current and keep access to the updated Love Bites Junior program, you need to complete the 2-hour online Junior Refresher by 30 June 2026.

You can book your session through the Community Hub.

What happens after 30 June?

After 30 June:

  • Junior Refresher sessions will close
  • The older Love Bites Junior package will be removed
  • Facilitators who have not completed the refresher will no longer be recognised as current Love Bites Junior facilitators
  • Access to the updated Junior program will only be available by completing the full Junior training

Why this matters

Love Bites Junior has been updated to reflect current evidence, child safe facilitation, trauma-informed practice, and the needs and experiences of young people.

To deliver Love Bites safely and consistently, facilitators need to be using the current package and meeting the expectations outlined in the Facilitator Code of Conduct.

What if I do not complete the refresher?

If you do not complete the Junior Refresher by 30 June, you will need to complete the full 1-day Love Bites Junior training at $400 to access the updated program.

What if no dates suit?

If there are no available dates that suit your availability, please contact us before 30 June so we can work with you to find another option.

Love Bites Junior changes are here!

The Love Bites Junior program has undergone a major update to ensure it remains engaging, evidence-based, and aligned with current curriculum requirements.

The previous training package was last updated in 2018. In 2024, we began rolling out a new version of the program and received feedback from facilitators across the country. We listened – and as a result, the 2025 Love Bites Junior package includes significant changes to improve clarity, delivery, and engagement, while continuing to reflect current evidence and research to support the needs of young people today.

Love Bites Junior continues to support the delivery of respectful relationships education to students in Years 7, 8 and 9.

The program consists of three progressive packages.

These packages are designed to be delivered sequentially, with each session building on the knowledge and skills developed in the previous year.

Respectful Relationships Start With Me (Year 7)

Covers identity, emotions, relationships, consent, stereotypes, conflict, online safety, and respectful behaviours in both real-life and digital spaces.

Respectful Relationships, Stereotypes & Upstanding (Year 8)

Explores identity, diversity, stereotypes, consent, respectful behaviour, online safety, bullying, boundaries, and how to safely stand up for others.

Respectful Relationships, Love, and Control (Year 9)

Focuses on values, emotions, gender messages, consent, breakups, online behaviours, support-seeking, and building safe, respectful relationships.

Important update for current facilitators

If you’re already trained in Love Bites Junior, here’s what you need to know:

  • Your access to the current Love Bites Junior program will end on 30 June 2026.
  • To continue delivering the program beyond this date, you must either:
    • Complete the Love Bites Junior Refresher (available to eligible facilitators), or
    • Re-train in the updated program.

If you haven’t heard from us and you think you should have, get in touch at training@napcan.org.au or call (02) 8073 3300 – it’s possible we have an old email address on file.

Got Questions?

We know there’s a lot changing – and it’s important you have clear, up-to-date info. Below are answers to some of the most common questions you may have.

If you still need help, don’t hesitate to contact our team at training@napcan.org.au or 02 8073 3300.

The new package includes:

  • Updated activities that are more interactive and age-appropriate
  • New content on coercive control, pornography, types of relationship violence and affirmative consent
  • A fully redesigned program manual for facilitators
  • New planning tools and checklists to help you deliver the program with ease
  • Information on trauma-responsive practice and creating safe environments for young people
  • A new single-day session format
  • New topics and content to reflect the rapidly evolving online landscape
  • Updated evidence and research in line with emerging trends
  • Current legislative updates including state based legal information
  • Streamlined facilitator guide
  • New planning and preparation toolkit to support session delivery

Unfortunately not. The current program was created in 2018 and is now outdated. This version will be archived & removed from facilitators profile on June 30 2026. The new package reflects the evolving landscape for young people and includes critical updates on topics like risks online, affirmative consent, and coercive control.

A refresher course is a 2-hour online session designed to bridge the gap between the old package and the updated 2025 version. A skilled Love Bites trainer will guide you through the key changes, including new activities and resources, with time at the end to answer your questions and provide support.

Facilitators who trained 4 or more years ago need to complete the full training again. The updated package includes significant changes and we want to ensure all facilitators are confident and equipped to deliver it.
If you believe you are eligible but haven’t received details, please contact us.

The course is $400 per person and runs for 1 day. You can view upcoming sessions here

  • Log into your Hub profile
  • Refresh your screen – you should then see “Junior Refresher Sessions” in the left-hand navigation
  • If you’re already logged in, log out, log back in, then refresh your browser to see the sessions

If you still can’t see the sessions after following these steps, please contact us for support.

Not yet – currently, only the single-session format is available. The updated multi-session package will be released before the end of October 2025.

Please contact our team at training@napcan.org.au or (02) 8073 3300 (Mon – Fri 09:00 – 17:00 AEST) so we can check your eligibility and update your contact details if needed.

No – the 2018 version will be archived and permanently removed from facilitator profiles on 30 June 2026.

You’ll need to attend the full 1-day training for the 2025 package at your own cost to continue delivering Love Bites Junior.

Eligible facilitators can now select a refresher session via their Hub profile. Sessions run from 11 August 2025 to 30 June 2026. A variety of session times are available, including morning, midday, afternoon, and evening options.

If you can’t find a session that suits your availability, please contact us at training@napcan.org.au or (02) 8073 3300.
