This training will provide support for facilitators to be able to deliver the Love Bites Senior Program, a primary prevention education program that focuses on the development of respectful relationships and violence prevention for 15-17-year-old’s (or Years 10-12). The training role models a trauma aware and healing informed delivery model of the program.
Note:
There is an assumed knowledge of basic trauma-informed practice principles, and /or experience in working in trauma informed contexts for participants in this course. This is not training to learn about trauma informed practice.
NAPCAN recognises that all communities are different. We encourage program adaptation for your specific community or setting e.g. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. This training features the standard model of Love Bites and we are unable to provide comprehensive adaptations/changes to the program in standard training. Please contact NAPCAN for more information about adaptations for your specific community.
Course outcomes:
Participants will gain knowledge and skills to facilitate the implementation of the Love Bites Program. The training provides background information about best practice standards in respectful relationship education, as well as providing information about the theoretical frameworks that inform the programs. Additionally, participants will experience the program by participating in the activities that are delivered to young people who participate in the program.
The training includes a trauma informed aspect that will provide an opportunity for facilitators to reflect on their trauma informed practice and incorporate and integrate this knowledge into the delivery of NAPCAN's Respectful Relationships Programs while minimising and responding to any re-traumatisation for young people. Trainers role model how to facilitate the program activities in a setting that supports a trauma aware, healing informed approach.
Please see link for more information about the Love Bites program.
Who should attend:
Those that work with young people and are comfortable in working in the areas of consent, sexual assault and relationship violence. The program can be delivered in schools and in out of school settings.
