SUMMARY:Australia's Biggest Child Safety Lesson
DESCRIPTION:Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson – Join our online broadcast on Thursday 5 September 2019 in Child Protection Week \n\nOne of our best-loved Day for Daniel activities\, Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson\, will now be available in National Child Protection Week. The lesson is a 20-minute educational video which covers important personal safety topics. Last year\, over 100\,000 students watched the live stream on Day for Daniel and a further 100\,000 are estimated to have accessed it in the following week. \nNow in its third year\, this edition of ABCSL will be designed for upper primary school students. We’re indulging our inner journalists with a news bulletin theme: #CSL. Students will learn about their right to be safe and how to recognise\, react and report in unsafe situations.\nFeedback from educators has revealed that it is valuable to access this resource ahead of Day for Daniel. As such\, the Foundation has decided to launch ABCSL in National Child Protection Week\, which takes place from the 1st to the 7th of September. \nRegister online at https://danielmorcombefoundation.com.au/australias-biggest-child-safety-lesson-2/ to join the live stream on Thursday the 5th of September from all over Australia.

SUMMARY:National Child Protection Week Q&A Forum\, Hobart
DESCRIPTION:Putting children first: Changing the way we frame parenting in Australia\nAdd value and power to your work by learning how to frame\, and become part of a growing network that is using framing to change the world for kids and families. \nAs a strong and passionate sector we are all on a journey to create a nation that values children and gives parents the support they need. But how do we make sure that all Australians join us on this journey? And how can social science help us to create the necessary social change that children need? \nGround-breaking new research commissioned by the Parenting Research Centre from the Frameworks Institute (US) has highlighted the power of ‘framing’ when it comes to improving child wellbeing in Australia. \nNAPCAN’s Q&A Forum will use this research to launch a broader discussion about how we support parents with the right policies\, and build collective responsibility with the right communication. \nJoin our international\, national and local experts for a fresh\, bold conversation including: \n\nThe power of the ‘child development frame’ to effect positive change\nHow supporting parents is the key to improving child wellbeing\nReal-life examples of how the research is changing the way we work\nWhy myths and metaphors matter\, and why images of boats and lighthouses are popping up all over the place.\n\nSpeakers include: \n\nNat Kendall-Taylor\, CEO\, FrameWorks Institute\, United States\nAnnette Michaux\, Director\, Parenting Research Centre\nLiz Crane\, State Executive Officer\, Child Health Association Tasmania (CHAT)\n\nMC: Emma Webb \nTime: 7.00am – 9.30am (Breakfast included) \nDate: Wednesday 4 September 2019 \nVenue: Hadley’s Orient Hotel \nOrganised by NAPCAN with support from the Tasmanian Government. \nThis event is an official event of National Child Protection Week (1-7 September).
