This will also involve discussions about real life cases which is intended to help participants understand the very real impacts for children and young people in these situations. These topics and the material covered can at times be uncomfortable\, and whilst every effort has been made to alert attendees to sensitive and traumatic material\, we cannot foresee which elements of the content may be potentially triggering\, especially for those with lived experience. We encourage participants to consider at their own discretion whether this training is appropriate for them.

The program is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material\, online grooming\, image-based abuse\, sexual extortion\, and importantly encourages help-seeking behaviour. \n\nLoretta Stumer: Ways to Wellness\n\nWays to Wellness is a free service provided by the Mt Gravatt Community Centre to members of our community aged sixteen and above. The program aims to end social isolation through a social prescribing network. The Ways to Wellness Project benefits those who: \n\n\n\nMay be new to the area\nMay have lost touch with friends and/or family\nMay experience barriers to getting out and about\nMay feel nervous meeting new people\nMay not know what types of activities are available in their community\nMay be experiencing social isolation and loneliness\n\n\n\n\nRachelle Riley: Department of Child Safety Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.\n\nRachelle will be discussing how we can support children/young people with diverse sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGIE). \n\nTania Felstead: Red Rose Foundation\n\nThe Red Rose Foundation­ is a national not-for-profit charity that works to address the damaging impact of domestic violence across our communities. They are especially concerned at the high number of domestic violence related deaths that occur each year through homicide and suicide. They also acknowledge that tragically\, many of these domestic violence related deaths have many predictive elements and are largely considered preventable. \n

DESCRIPTION:NAPCAN is excited to once again be partnering with Run Against Violence (RAV) to help ensure that every young person in Australia has the opportunity to learn about what a respectful relationship looks like for them. \nIn the past 2 years\, RAV has already raised and donated around $200\,000 to NAPCAN’s Love Bites program\, helping to fund facilitator training in remote\, regional and metropolitan communities throughout Australia. \nThis year\, RAV is aiming to reach that figure in one go\, with the balance to be invested in other community education initiatives. \nRegistrations for the 2022 Run Against Violence (RAV) Virtual Challenge are open NOW. Here are some of the things you might want to know… \nThe challenge starts Tuesday 30 August 2022 and finishes Saturday 17 September 2022 so can be completed as part of National Child Protection Week! \nLet’s help make the RAV Virtual Challenge the BIGGEST running event in Australia so we can help prevent relationship violence and sexual assault in our communities. \nGet a group of friends or colleagues together or even encourage your students to set up a team themselves!

DESCRIPTION:NAPCAN’s Love Bites Respectful Relationships Education program plays a big part in the primary prevention of family and domestic violence in Queensland.  \nThis Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month\, we would like to take the opportunity to bring our Love Bites community together in an online community of practice via Zoom. \nThe event will have an informal format with a focus on sharing information. This will include:\n– an update from NAPCAN about Love Bites (including the new manual and online platforms)\n– short updates from some of our Love Bites facilitators in Queensland\n– time for questions.   \nWe welcome Love Bites facilitators and others who are involved with the delivery of the program (e.g. schools)\, as well as those who simply want to know more about Love Bites.
