Research

To solve the problem we must first understand it.

Conducting sound and extensive research on child abuse and neglect and properly evaluating the effectiveness of actions and programs to prevent it is essential.

Unfortunately far too little research has been conducted in Australia. NAPCAN believes that the wellbeing and safety of Australia's children should become a key national research priority. You can help advocate for this by joining NAPCAN's advocacy network and listing this as an area of particular interest.

There are a number of research bodies which conduct and/or collate research in this area. The key ones include:

AIHW- Australian Institute of Health & Welfare "A Picture of Australia's Children in 2009" - http://www.aihw.gov.au/publications/index.cfm/title/10704
