NCPW 2012 MicroGrant applications open in the Northern Territory

NAPCAN welcomes organisations, groups and communities from across the Northern Territory to get involved in National Child Protection Week and play their part in promoting the safety and wellbeing of all children.

MicroGrants of up to $2,000.00 are available for activities and events that aim to strengthen families and communities in their protective roles with children and young people.

Applications close: Wednesday 15 August

Who can apply?

Applications are limited to the Northen Territory.

Any non-profit community based group, local government or incorporated organisations operating in the Northern Terrritory can apply. NAPCAN encourages partnerships with other agencies to host community-‐wide events.

How to get started:

  1. Consider forming a committee with like-minded people and groups in your community, neighbourhood or club
  2. Brainstorm ways to bring together members of the community (including kids) to talk about things affecting the safety and wellbeing of children and their families
  3. Decide how best to promote positive messages about how everybody can play their part in keeping kids safe
What does prevention mean?

NAPCAN believes in community‐led prevention. This means listening carefully to community members including children and young people to plan the kinds of activities that will keep kids safe from abuse and neglect. Strong families and well-‐connected communities are more likely to provide safe environments for kids.
