Meegan Crawford - Committee Member
After completing a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Queensland in 1990 I commenced work with what is now known as the Department of Child Safety.  From 1991 to 2005 I worked in a variety of positions within the Department but primarily as a frontline child protection worker at Crisis Care where I undertook after-hours child protection assessments, received and recorded child protection notifications from around the State and assisted parents and carers in their care of children and adolescents.  I am currently employed at the Logan campus of Griffith University where I am coordinating the field placement subjects for social work students, many of whom will be interested in pursuing careers in the child protection area.

As a mother of two children aged 3 and 5 and with my experience as a child protection worker and educator, I am committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and am privileged to be part of the Qld NAPCAN management committee where there are a number of committee members with whom I have previously worked in policy and direct practice positions.

Sharon Butson
After living and working in various regional and country areas of Queensland with her family Sharon completed a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Queensland in 1988.  She has a 20 year history of working the areas of child protection and family relationship and mediation counselling with Queensland government and legal aid organisations.  Throughout her career Sharon worked to maintain the quality of practice in direct service delivery by supervising staff and students and espousing the need to provide services which educate and support families to care safely for children.

Sharon feels passionately that families and communities need access to services which adequately educate and support them to nurture and protect their children.  With much of her career spent in the delivery of tertiary child protection services she values the opportunity to contribute to the positive and preventive work of NAPCAN in strengthening families and communities to protect and care for their children.
