Proudly Supported by Southern Cross University, Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples and NAPCAN. Venue: Southern Cross University Lismore Sports Oval, Date: Sunday 9th September, 9.45am - 4.00pm.

"STAND UP and STOMP OUT child abuse!" was the message of a group of Masters Students at Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples, to the Australian public at the STOMP IT Awareness Carnival as part of National Child Protection Week 2007.
The Carnival achieved its aim of opening-up dialogue between individuals, families, community service providers, advocates for prevention, and Government, which will translate into realistic & sustainable action to help prevent abuse and build community wellbeing.

Main Stage
Located in the beautiful grounds of The Southern Cross University the main stage showcased musical performances by: legendary Indigenous performers Kev Carmody and country music/gospel singer Roger Knox will head concert's stellar entertainment lineup along with internationally acclaimed didjeri-bone player Tjupurru and a children's corroboree choreographed by Indigenous storyteller/dancer Dhinawan .

Carnival Area
The rich & diverse entertainment program for families & children included bush tucker food workshops, the "Thanks Dad!" photo competition and cultural activities from entertainers/educators Mereki , John Huckle and Helen Moran .

Surrounding the main stage there were a range of cultural workshops & activities for families with kids & young people to be involved in throughout the day, including the "Thanks Dad" Photo Competition & the massive STOMP IT Community Canvas where attendees "stomped" their painted foot print onto the canvas showing their support for the protection of Australia 's children!
Families gained access to an array of information at the "safe place" tent where regional service providers & clubs showcased their services including support from: The Men's Shed, Lismore Neighbourhood Centre, Girl Guides Association, The Centre for Children & Young People, North Coast Area Health Service, Young Lions Club Casino, Child & Adolescent Special Programs & Accommodation and many more.

Community members heard a special panel of guest speakers who discussed action plans to tackle inter-generational trauma and abuse in Australian communities. The panel included:
•  Professor Judy Atkinson - D irector of the Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples
•  Marcia Ella Duncan - Chair of the Aboriginal Child Sexual Assault Taskforce
•  Marie Fox - NAPCAN CEO
•  Mick Adams - Chairperson National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Male Health & Wellbeing Reference Committee Working Group
•  Greg Telford - Rekindling the Spirit Coordinator
